QBasic, QuickBasic, and other variations name a Microsoft BASIC programming language and/or its interpreters and compilers. The most popular version is QBasic45 which, created in the eighties, is commonly considered abandonware today and is freely available in many places online, including Microsoft's MSDN website.

The language's interpreter is DOS-based and supports a number of very simple graphics operations, and provides a great introduction to game programming as a result. As is common for older development platforms, especially in the case of limited-RAM systems like QBasic, it has developed a demoscene-like community around it focusing on accomplishing compelling visual effects with the limited environment.
