Rules

Content

• Any programming language can be used.

• Any libraries can be used, however you will only be judged on your own code. Any libraries used must be stated in your readme. Compiled versions of the libs must be submitted with your game with the exception of Ubuntu where you can tell me the names of the packages to install.

• All source code must be created during the time of the competition. You can use past code however it must be clearly marked as such.

• Graphics do not have to be new or original. Free graphics provided on the Internet are allowed. Programmer art is allowed.

• The Lil' Endian (aka Scooter, aka GPWiki mascot) must appear somewhere in the game. Either as a part of the experience or on a splash screen or menu.

Submission

• Bundle the entire submission in a single archive file (7z and bz2 are preferred)

• The entries should preferably be uploaded to your personal webspace, or on 2shared.com. Please don't use rapidshare or similar file sharing things which have download limits because they're annoying.

• Entries should be kept below 10MB.

• Source code and an executable should be submitted. All executables must be able to run on Windows Vista, Ubuntu 8.04 or OS X 10.5. If there is not a way to make an executable in the language you choose then give specific instructions on how to run it.

• Only 1 person is allowed to program on each submission. Art may be gathered from online resources or made by yourself, if you choose to use art not made by yourself you must state where you got it from.

• A "readme.txt" must accompany each submission and outline the features that are in the game, to ensure that everything that you've programmed in is noticed by judges. Brief instructions for playing the game must also be included.

Judging

The submissions will be judged on a range from 0% to 100%. Each category will have a set number of points to obtain, adding them all up will have a maximum of 100%.

• Functionality (25%) - Based on what all you can do in the entry, does it feel complete or lacking?

• Technical quality (35%) - Based on the quality of your code and how much effort you put into it.

• Presentation (10%) - How the game looks and is presented to the user.

• Controls (15%) - Do the controls get in the way of playing the game or do they add to it?

• Gameplay (15%) - How fun is the game to play?

• Bonus Points (10%) - Bonus points will be given subjectively based on judges. Bonus points only help you get up to 100%, anything above that will only be used for a tie breaker.

Judging is not a science, it is purely the opinion of the judge. Anyone can enter at anytime as long as they give a submission by the deadline.

The Prize

The winner will also set the topic for and run the next competition.

Good luck and have fun!
